Essentials of Economics
This new text for one-term Survey of Economics courses has a two-fold goal: to focus on essential economic concepts and to make them interesting to students. To meet the first goal, the author carefully pruned the Table of Contents to include only those topics which constitute the core of economic concepts. To meet the second, he called on his proven ability to bring economic policy and theory to life, especially by including real-world applications throughout the book, making students feel that economics is a very real-world concern and motivating them to learn more about the basic economic concepts. Also available: instructor’s manual (ISBN 0-07-056296-2); and study guide (ISBN 0-07-056295-4).

Customer Review: Never got the book
I ordered the book and never received any confirmation. I finally contacted the person I bought it from and she said that Amazon never notified her and that she put it in the mail on a Friday. It had been several weeks so on Sunday I emailed and asked her if she had express mailed it b/c my class started that following Thursday. The next thing I knew I had a credit from Amazon and had to go pay double at a bookstore. I gave a 1 rating b/c I had to, but I wanted to give it a negative.

Customer Review: VERY HELPFUL!
I ordered this book, I was sent the wrong one, but bbworks did exactly what their return policy states! I was sent the correct book, plus postage to send the incorrect one back. Keep up the good work!

Essentials of Economics Economics for Everyone: A Short Guide to the Economics of Capitalism

–A highly readable guide to how the economy really works–Economics is too important to be left to the economists. This brilliantly concise and readable book provides non-specialist readers with all the information they need to understand how capitalis

Customer Review: Because understanding of economics is too important to be left to politicans and economists
Excellent text for individuals seeking for a source introducing and critically examining the key economic concepts and issues. The format is very accessible and enjoyable. It will be suitable for high school students and adults without a background in critical theory. This is much more than a standard textbook in economic theory and if you are choosing between this text and a textbook, this one should be the one you read first. If you do have a basic background in economics but not critical theory, this is still a required reading for you.
Customer Review: Good book, but he shouldn’t treat his readers like they are stupid
Ok, I agree with a lot of the political stances that he advocates, but my main area of criticism of this work is the childlike cartoons littered throughout the book…I am not a baby, I don’t want pictures to illustrate simple concepts.
For those of you who don’t want to buy a comic strip about the economy, buy Mindful Economics, it’s much better written and the delivery will make you feel smart. The difference is that when you read Economics for Everyone, you are presumed to be dumb by the writer, Mindful Economics treats you like you are smart already.
